International Crafts and Food on the 10th February will mark the annual return of Prosperous Mountain Lion Dance, Drum Assault, and Bellyup Bellydance.
Drum Assault’s Dan Graetz, flew to Guinea, West Africa in the early 2000’s to learn drumming from the country’s best teachers. The group has since built a pedigree of performances from the National Multicultural Festival to the SBS Fifa World Cup Launch. Watch them play and dance to the beat this coming International Day, 11 February.
If you get hit with the lettuce leaf, it's good luck for the rest of the year. Prosperous Mountain Lion Dance Leader David Wong explains how veggie spit out from the mouth of a lion can swing the year in your favour. He also hints at doing Canberra's first ever Chinese unicorn dance ahead of this year's Chinese New Year celebrations.
Drum Assault will bring their award-winning performance of infectious West African beats to the Markets on International Day, 11 February. We’re also expecting a number of talented and kinetic performers on the day including swing dancing from Jumptown Swing and a lion dance from Canberra Prosperous Mountain Lion Dance to kick off Chinese New Year. Let’s end the Summer right.
Celebrate Canberra’s rich and diverse multicultural community at this year’s International Day, taking place at the markets on Sunday 12 February 2017.
Canberra is such a rich and diverse multicultural community, and at our February theme day at the markets, International Day, we really like to show off the best bits with everything from music and dance, to handcrafted gifts and delicious food.
This month we’re celebrating Canberra’s rich and multicultural community at International Day.
