Unique glassworks by Desired Glass

3 November, 2014

Old Bus Depot markets Stallholder - Desired Glass. LandscapeBill Mahoney’s glass pieces show the result of what over 30 years of professional kiln craft and cold-working skill can create. In recent years, Bill has turned to creating functional art for walls, most notably in his clock works.

With an emphasis on light, colour and design, Bill’s glass clocks are statement pieces that can bring that something special to any space. Bill has been making the weekly trek from Batemans Bay to the markets for 11 years now, and says the 3.50am Sunday starts haven’t gotten any easier over the years. His passion for functional art however makes it all worth it.

Aside from the markets, you can spot Bill’s work around Canberra in many homes and public locations – most recently he was commissioned to restore the stained glass Chapel windows in Griffith. When he’s not selling his wares or quoting customers for bespoke pieces, he’s teaching glasswork classes in Batemans Bay.
