Sculpture can be a welcome addition to any outdoor space – but how about a sculpture of something uniquely Australian – like a lounging lizard made from forged steel with its own expression, life and movement. This is what local artisan Thomas Westra creates. Not only are they great to look at, but they add real personality to your garden.

Thomas began his working life as an electrician but after needing a life change experimented in woodcarving, metal casting and steel sculpture which he became most interested in. Since 1996 his work has been based on metal art and furniture design, and perhaps his most loved works are his forged steel lizards. Thomas’ rustic lizards are available in free-form sculpted works for indoors or outdoors, as well as functional pieces such as the loo lizard, bottle lizard, hook lizards and towel holder lizards.
