From stones to silver

2 November, 2010

From jewellery made from organic pebbles, to precious metals and gemstones, the Old Bus Depot Markets will transform into a giant jewellery box of trinkets and treasures at the annual Jewel of Canberra theme day on Sunday 14th November.

The works from over 30 of some of the best jewellery designers and artists from the region will be showcased with a range of jewellery including exquisite brooches, earrings and pendants made from silver and titanium, Swarovski crystal and semi-precious stone necklaces, organic pebble based neck pieces, millefiori beads, precious gemstones set in gold and silver, pearls, fabric brooches, mens’ cufflinks and much more.

One such designer is Michelle Snowdon, a textile jewellery artist from the Blue Mountains who will exhibit her very unusual felt rings, necklaces made from recycled t-shirts and handspun wool and wire pendants. Jewellery collectables expert, Russell Brooks, will also be travelling from Sydney to exhibit his collection of gorgeous brooches from renowned Parisian designer, Lea Stein. The brooches, which are collected all over the world, proved very popular at the markets’ Portobello Road event earlier this year.
