One bite and you’ll be hooked on Krofne Hot Fresh Donuts. These donuts are European yeast style donuts filled with hot jam or Nutella. And SOOOOO good.

Locals Danijela and John have taken a Croatian family recipe which was handed down from Danijela’s Grandmother to her mother, then to her, to bring these delicious creations to the market most Sundays. The pair have a 15-year-old son Anthony with Down Syndrome, and they were looking for a business that he could be fully involved in post-school. And Anthony just loves it, spending a few hours each week making and selling his family’s donuts.

All donuts are handmade, with the dough made fresh on Sunday mornings at the 80/20 commercial kitchen in Braddon. The dough is then proved and taken fresh to the markets where it is rolled and cut, proved for a second time, then fried to order. You can choose from jam filled –  filled with delicious Hanks three berry jam which contains no preservatives or gelatine and is seriously good jam – or the ever-popular Nutella.  Watch them get rolled in sugar and you’re in heaven. Made using the freshest quality ingredients, some sourced from local and regional producers including free range eggs from Long Paddock, and with no preservatives, these donuts are yum double yum!
